About the Offering
In this workshop, you will learn how to deepen your felt-sense and connection to your body through intentional toning. Sound has the power to meet, express, and transmute feeling. We’ll be journeying into our bodies and exploring which tones match, or resonate, what we feel. When we meet ourselves through sound, the opportunity arises to vibrate our being into greater health and presence.
What is toning?
If you're not familiar, vocal toning is a practice of making simple sounds that vibrate your body (like humming or sounding the note "ahhhhh") in a way that focuses your mind, regulates your nervous system, and increases circulation and energy throughout your body. There's actually an impressive and growing body of research that demonstrates how vocal sound vibrations have positive physical and psychological effects.
The workshop will include:
- Gentle shaking meditation to wake up and settle the body
- Setting up the body as a vessel for sound to pass through by orienting to ground and center
- Discussion on how toning down-regulates the nervous system and promotes wellness, insight, and creativity
- Guided toning meditation
- Exploring pathways for directing sound such as through the heart
- Restorative yoga/savasana to integrate and close the practice
