Job Title: Community Manager

Reports To: Cofounders, Ryan Kenny + Rena Satre Meloy


The Community Manager is responsible for overseeing and organizing all studio/virtual community offerings and managing the Portland-based studio. They are highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to keep track of multiple moving parts to support the Pause brand. They also value connection and community, are a natural people-person, and will provide an extraordinary experience for Pause community members. 


  • Brand Ambassador - Nurture, celebrate, and engage Pause community members. Represent Pause in a positive, professional manner at all times and demonstrate Pause’s core values. 

  • Platform support- Manage MindBody Online (MBO) + FitGrid + web-based softwares for scheduling, registration, and technical issues.

  • Operations - Manage class/workshop/course/events schedule + coordinate teacher substitutions. Assist with physical studio operations (virtual and in-person).

  • Customer Service - Respond to general inquiries, via phone and/or email, in a timely and professional manner. Manage Pause Membership program.

  • Communications – Create + manage ongoing, inspiring, connecting communications (e-newsletters, emails, texts, phone calls, snail mail) with current and prospective members.

  • Programming - Become familiar with all regular course offerings and special events to educate guests and staff on offerings.

  • Sales - Assist with achieving marketing and sales initiatives for Pause.

Required Competencies and Skills

  • Detail-oriented, strong organization + time management skills

  • Strong problem solving + creative thinking skills

  • Demonstrate initiative, prioritization and task completion

  • Solution-oriented (comes to the table with multiple solutions to problems)

  • Strong interpersonal skills for optimal relationship building + member experience/engagement

  • Punctual, responsible, reliable

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

  • Passion for meditation, health, wellness, and conscious leadership

Preferred Competencies and Skills

  • Previous management experience in wellness, retail, or similar industry

  • Proficient in MindBody Online software

  • 1 year customer service experience

  • Retail opening & closing responsibilities


  • Portland, Oregon (must be local)

  • There will be some flexibility to work remotely, but this is primarily an on-site position


  • Hourly Pay ($16-20/hour DOE)

  • Part-time Position – 20 hours per week (opportunity to grow into full-time)

  • Free Pause membership and attendance to all offerings
