There are plenty of tools to choose from. We recommend the following apps to support your practices in meditation, daily mindfulness, and intentionality.

Insight Timer

The Insight Timer app logs your meditation time, allows you to create and customize pre-set mediation sessions, and offers free guided meditations from instructors from around the world (you can also opt to purchase a variety of mindfulness courses). When you finish meditating, it shows you how many people around the world have been meditating with you and where. Join the Pause Meditation Group to meditate remotely with others in the Pause community.

The Calm app offers a library of guided meditations to help you manage anxiety, lower stress and sleep better. "Sleep Stories" are a unique feature that offer soothing tales read by well-known voices to help you unwind and fall into a deeper sleep. Calm is the perfect mindfulness app for beginners, but also includes hundreds of programs for intermediate and advanced users.

The Headspace app teaches you how to meditate, breathe, and live mindfully. There are exercises on topics including managing anxiety, stress relief, breathing, happiness, and focus. You can take the free Basics course that will teach you the essentials of meditation and mindfulness, and then upgrade to have access to hundreds of guided "singles" and "packs" (like courses) that help you deepen your practice.

The Aura app offers daily guided meditations – three or seven minutes in length – to help you re-center and begin your day with a quiet mind and positive outlook. Designed for those looking to manage stress and improve their mental habits, Aura helps people form a healthier morning and evening routine that improves well-being and overall happiness. Aura also has a "Gratitude Journal" feature which encourages users to write down and collect the things in their life they are grateful for (another key practice in cultivating well-being).

Chime is an app (iOS only) that emits a short chiming noise and/or vibration on pre-determined intervals: every hour, half-hour, or quarter-hour. Use this simple app to develop your informal practice by taking a mindful moment or a mindful pause each time you hear the chime.

This simple app (iOS), similar to Chime above, allows you set a bell to ring at a specified interval - or random intervals - throughout the day. This simple sound can help bring you back to center, and back into the present moment throughout your day.
